1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy explains how PlateLogic ("we", "us") handles personal information when you use the PlateLogic mobile application (the "App"). PlateLogic is a calorie- and activity-tracking application designed around a privacy-first principle: your personal health information is stored on your device, not on our servers.

We have written this Policy to comply with the EU/UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CCPA/CPRA), and other applicable privacy laws. We are the data controller for the information described below.

2. Information we collect

2.1 Stored on your device

When you set up and use the App, the following information is created and stored locally on your device. It is not transmitted to us:

2.2 Account & service data

To provide the App's online features, we create an anonymous identifier for your installation. This identifier does not contain your name, email address, phone number, or any other directly identifying information. It is used to enforce fair usage of our AI features, manage subscription entitlements, and protect against abuse.

2.3 Optional analytics and crash diagnostics

With your consent, we collect anonymous usage analytics and crash diagnostics to help us improve the App. This may include screen views, in-app actions, device model, operating system version, app version, and approximate country (derived from IP address, which we do not retain). It does not include the contents of your meals, weight, or other health information. You can withdraw or grant this consent at any time in Settings → Preferences.

2.4 Food image and text submissions

When you use our AI features to identify foods, the image or text you submit is processed by our AI partner to return a nutrition estimate. We do not retain these submissions.

2.5 Subscription information

If you purchase a subscription, our subscription provider records the purchase event and your subscription status. Payment is processed by Apple or Google; we do not receive your payment-card details.

2.6 Device permissions

The App requests access to your camera (for barcode and food-photo scanning) and your photo library (for importing or exporting your data). These permissions are used only when you initiate the relevant action.

3. How we use information

We do not sell your personal information, use it for cross-context behavioral advertising, or make automated decisions that produce legal effects concerning you.

5. Sharing & service providers

We share limited information with trusted service providers who help us operate the App. Each provider acts as a data processor under contractual terms designed to protect your information and is permitted to use it only for the purposes described below.

Where personal data is transferred internationally, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses and, where applicable, the EU–US Data Privacy Framework.

7. Data retention

8. Security

We use industry-standard safeguards to protect your information. Data stored on your device is encrypted at rest. All network communication uses secure transport encryption. We restrict server-side access on a need-to-know basis.

No safeguard is absolute. If you have reason to believe your information has been compromised, please contact us using the details below.

9. Your rights (EEA & UK)

10. Your rights (California & other US states)

If you are a California resident, the CCPA (as amended by the CPRA) gives you the right to know what personal information we collect, to request access to or deletion of that information, to correct inaccurate information, and to not be discriminated against for exercising your privacy rights. We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details below. You may designate an authorized agent to act on your behalf; we will verify the agent's authority before responding.

11. Children's privacy

The App is not directed to children under the age of 13 (or under 16 in the EEA/UK). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe that a child has provided personal information, please contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above and, where the changes are material, provide a prominent notice within the App. Your continued use of the App after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised Policy.
